Whisper ® Aquarium Air Pump
Product No. 77846
Minimal noise, maximum air flow. The Whisper® Air Pump's dome shape actually flattens sound wave frequencies. In addition, each model features sound-dampening chambers designed specifically for that model. And the air pump's rubber feet and suspended motor prevent sound waves from reflecting off surfaces such as tables and shelves.
Available in models for aquariums from 10 to 100 gallons, Whisper Air Pumps provide a powerful flow of air. UL listed.
Tetra Whisper Air Pumps Help Keep Your Tank Quiet
Tetra Whisper Air Pumps keep your aquarium oxygen levels high, helping keep your fish healthy. And with seven different sized pumps, there is sure to be one that is perfect for your aquarium. This line of air pumps has a unique dome shape and rubber feet. This flattens sound wave frequencies and helps prevent them from reflecting off of surfaces such as tables and shelves, allowing your pump to produce minimal noise. Whisper Air Pumps can be used in deep tanks (up to 8 feet deep), and have enough strength to power long decorator air stones, multiple air stones in one or more tanks, and protein skimmers for salt water aquariums. Every Tetra pump comes with a warranty, see product label for details.
Whisper Pumps Produce a More Oxygenated Aquarium
Tetra's Whisper pumps will keep both you and your underwater friends happy. The pumps provide oxygen, which is good for your fish and tank, and also provide water movement. Combining these two benefits will lead to better water conditions overall. The underwater bubbles produced by the machine also add a mesmerizing touch enhancing the look of your aquarium. These pumps are the most powerful line that Tetra offers, ensuring that you are getting the best quality pump available.

Rated 2 out of 5 by VeryUniqueNickname from Silent at first, but they don't last long. These break within a few years. I have had ~5 of them so far, and there are 3 main things that fail. 1: Diaphragm is a rubbery material that eventually tears. Looks like it could be easy to replace but they don't seem to have replacement parts. 2: Rubber Sleeve on the arm that holds the diaphragm - this rubber is being vibrated by the diaphragm. Over time it starts to degrade, and it loses its tight fit on the housing around it. At this point, the arm starts sliding up, and it gets VERY loud. You can shove it down and hot-glue it into place for another 6 or so months of silent operation. 3: Plastic housing around the rubber sleeve cracks. On one of my pumps, a chunk of the plastic housing cracked off, adding a lovely rattle to the buzz. I was able to repair it using a 3D Printer pen set to ABS temperature (As I'm fairy certain that sleeve is ABS.) and adding enough mass to the part to allow it to function again, but depending on where the crack forms I'm not sure this will work for everyone. If Tetra ever makes small linear piston pumps for this same gallon range I'd buy that in a heartbeat. I don't recommend this product, but as it stands I don't think I recommend any diaphragm based air pumps.

Rated 1 out of 5 by Ronwab from I have replaced 3 in the past 2 yrs Dont waste These air pumps look good while they work but save yourself the hustle and disappointment. My last one has lasted only a couple of months. Seems like one side always dies. Cheap is expensive. I will buy a different more expensive brand. I think I have 3 that are not working

Rated 2 out of 5 by BigHunter from Short, VERY short life span. Very Quite and works well, for a short time. If this unit woudl last more than two months it would be AWESOME!!! Thanks said, I bought this pump in September to replace an identical one i was given. I liked it because it was quiet but to buy the entire unit was only slightly more than the replacement diaphragms to repair. Seemed like a logical solution. Unfortunately, by early November it only works on one side. Now, this one needs replacement diaphragms after only two months. So do I buy another one and replace it again in two months or try something different? Decisions, Decisions, Decisions.

Rated 1 out of 5 by Lowgroove from This pump blows, not in a good way I had a Whisper 100 connected to two sponge filters on my 55gal tank. Five months ago one port stopped working, so I replaced it. The replacement developed the same problem and also stopped working. Bought another one today, plugged it in and one port is significantly weaker than the other. Sorry Tetra, 3 strikes and you're out.

Rated 1 out of 5 by ILoveLamp from Nozzle broke after 2 weeks Bought a tetra air pump 3 months ago, after about a month the nozzle broke off, I noticed a hissing sound coming from it and when i went to inspect the hose by the nozzle it fell right off. I called customer service and the representative was very rude, what a turn off. made me feel like it was my fault. when in reality it was just a cruddy product. Also he wanted me to mail it in...Why would I spend the money on shipping when it cost more than a new pump? I will take the money it would cost to ship this back to you and instead spend it on a new air pump from another company who actually cares about their customer satisfaction. I have had other products from different companies break and they always replaced them free of charge no questions asked. So why does Tetra make this so difficult. Don't worry about responding to this because you just lost a customer of more than 25 years. Extremely upset with the incompetence of the customer service rep as well.

Rated 1 out of 5 by wylie from Nice while it lasted I bought this pump to push some air for two air stones in a 44 gallon corner tank. After a couple of months at most, one of the two outlets doesn't push enough air for an air stone. Yes, tetra probably has a kit to rebuilt the inside, but should I have to after a couple of months of service? Not at all impressed with this product.

Hi,is the whisper EX30 a filter and pump?
Filter systems like the Whisper EX30 are first and foremost, a filter, not a pump. However, because they move the water briskly, they do provide oxygen. Air pumps are only necessary if the tank is heavily stocked, under maintained or you want a bubbly feature. Brex

Tying to use air pump for Sand Fall in 55 Gal . Have a Whisper 60 using a 3/4 inch pvc and air stone to create DIY project. Not lifting the sand the ten inches from bottom of tank to outlet of pipe elbow. Can you give me an idea which pump to use?
We would recommend the Whisper 150 as that one and the 300 are designed to supply more pressure. The 150 has one port and the 300 has two ports. Brex

I have 3 whisper 100 air pumps 2 have completely stopped pushing air and one is barely pushing out of one side. Is there anything that I can do about this? All of them are less than a year old which seems like a real problem.
This is a large pump intended for large tanks that have large applications. When installed on smaller systems, the back pressure tends to burn them out, so to speak. A large application is not a 1 to 4 inch stone, it would be a large disc or large bubble wand, a pair of large sponge filters and bubble wand, etc. Both ports need to be used. If you believe your pumps were installed properly as well as sized properly we would then recommend you contact our team directly at petsupport@spectrumbrands.com. Brex

This pump has become very loud over time. We have to unplug it to watch a movie on a TV in the same room. Is there any way to remedy that? Should I just buy a new one. It is about 4 years old. I have a 20 gallon tank and it is a Whisper20. Thanks.
Change out your air stones and airline tubing first. If that does not help, the rubber parts inside of it are probably wearing out and may need replacing. We do sell repair kits. Brex

The 100 gallon has The two air outlets.. do i just attach two different hoses?
This is a large pump so you have multiple options. You can run tubing from each port to two different large air stones or sponges, etc., or you can tee the two ports together and run one huge air stone or bubble wand off of it, but you do have to use both ports. Brex

Are replacement pump valves available for the Tetra Whisper 20?
Check valves are sold separately wherever air pumps are sold. If you mean the diaphragms, yes, they are sold through our website and Amazon, as well as local fish stores. https://www.tetra-fish.com/products/parts/repair-kit-whisper-air-pump-20-and-40.aspx Brex

I have a pump for up to 100 gallons with 2 air outlets. right now i only have 1 airstone that i am attaching. can I block or cap the 2nd airhole?(It is loud if I just let it flow). Or should I run a tube and split it into my one airtube/stone?
You have to use both ports or will cut the life expectancy of the diaphragms drastically and they are not covered by warranty. Tee the ports to run one very large air stone or use two large air stones. Brex

I ordered a standard air tubing 3/16" and it seems really tight, won't go over my Tetra Whisper air pump output. What size should be using? I tried stretching it out with a pencil but it didn't fit.
That's the correct size and it should fit tightly. Some tubing is stiffer than others and harder to put on. Soften it in very hot water or use a blow dryer. Brex
